Monthly Musings: Nobody cares, and why that’s liberating!
Monthly Musings is our creative corner where The Creative Directory team opens their notebook of inspirations, reflections, and fresh perspectives each month. From emerging trends to personal discoveries, we share the ideas that caught our attention and sparked our imagination. Whether you're seeking creative fuel or curious about what's inspiring fellow creatives, join us as we unpack the month that was.
From a solo museum date I had last month
Happy new year! As 2024 came to a close, I found myself reflecting on a familiar feeling - that moment when you stop yourself from doing something because you're worried about what others might think. Whether it was trying a new restaurant or joining a painting class, I often held myself back from going alone. Maybe you've felt it too: that hesitation to share your art, or that reluctance to wear that colorful outfit you love because it feels like "too much."
This feeling almost stopped The Creative Directory from launching last year. But when Jane and I took a leap of faith and trusted ourselves, we learned something liberating: everyone is so caught up in their own lives - their own worries, their own adventures, their own stories - that they're really not thinking about what you're doing at all.
Think about it - when was the last time YOU saw someone trying something new and judged them? Or noticed someone at a class alone and gave it a second thought? Probably never. You were likely focused on your own experience, wondering if you were doing things right or just taking it all in. This realization is incredibly freeing because it means we can just... do what lights us up! Sign up for that workshop you've been eyeing. Share your art - process shots and all. Dance in that class like nobody's watching because - truth is - they're probably too focused on their own moves to notice yours.
There's something beautiful about realizing that all those people you imagine judging your every move are just living their own lives, dealing with their own thoughts and dreams, just like we are. So this year, I challenge you to go create, try new things, wear what makes you smile - don’t let the fear of judgement hold you back from your fullest expression! 💕
